Krissy Mae Cagney
Born in Hawaii on June 21, 1988, Krissy Mae Cagney is an active weightlifter, fitness trainer, and author. Her work includes opening her own gyms, including Black Iron Gym, Doughnuts & Deadlifts, and ELLO Supply Co. In 2013, she published her first book, Flexible Dieting. As a teenager, she took a strength conditioning class at junior high and has worked as a personal trainer ever since. In college, she discovered CrossFit and met her friend Krissy Mae Cagney through Instagram.
Currently, Cagney works as a personal trainer, founder of a gym and fitness instructor, and an entrepreneur. Her podcast, Iron Cast, has over 410,000 followers. She also co-hosts the inspirational “You Live” podcast with Dr. Drew and Mike Catherwood. She is sponsored by True Recovery and Hydralyte. She has a degree in criminal justice from the University of Nevada.
Despite her success in the gym, Krissy Mae Cagney’s life was marred by a decade of alcohol abuse and drug addiction. A trip to the hospital made her realize that she was gambling with her life and began a new life. In high school, Cagney signed up for a strength and conditioning class and gradually became stronger. She felt comfortable in the weight room and continued attending meetings.
